Maybe you are using the midhorn drawings instead of the eight π plans? If anything, the eight π is a bit oversized. It's done that way to allow room for panel thickness and the braces and mounting brackets that are required inside. The external size of the eight π cabinet displaces 7.2ft³. It's 32" tall, 26" wide and 16.34" deep.
