Also, I got a 'strange' film which is extraordinarily
well-done called Northfork. I just picked it up at the APL.
The story is about people losing their homes in the path
of a dam for a power station. That doesn't give anything
away about the story. The sensitivity of the cinematography is
outstanding. Discussion at IMDb nominates it for
cult status. I can agree. James Woods and the rest of a
nearly all-star cast underplay all the action beautifully.
My thought was: Two brothers made this film, like the
work of the Coens. What more could they do? What could be
any better. it was that kind of experience.
You have to give it some breathing room. There is so much
to _see_ in the simple images that I'll prob'ly view all
the way through twice while I have it.
I've seen this in the stores but I had this _thing_ in my
head about not seeing it because I didn't understand the
subject matter and was mistaken about Jon Voight being in the
cast. It's a long story... but I'm glad I took a chance on
this one. It was well worth it.
