Every time I see a movie with Edward Norton in it, this movie comes to mind. Maybe it was the first movie I ever saw Norton do, or maybe it was just the most pointed. Either way, this one is a must see.
Edward Norton has a small role in Frida, and I understand he wrote parts of it too. Apparently, he and the star of the film, Selma Hayek became romantically involved. He had starring roles in last year's Italian Job and 25th hour. Both of those were pretty good movies too, but neither were as gripping to me as American History X.
Norton seems to always play himself in each movie; It's like he reacts to the environment his character is placed in just as if it were he himself, rather than to be some sort of method actor. I suppose the method he uses is to be himself and to react to the circumstances the plot places him in. I find myself always able to identify with him, and I've found myself making a point to see every movie he does. But I still think American History X is his best film.
