Woody is a guy whose personality is so subservient that he eventually begins to take on the personality traits of whomever he is exposed to. They do the whole movie in faux documentery style with footage from the 1930's doctored by his appearence's in varous situations.
Hard to get a sense of what it is by explaining; you have to see it.
