The 2225 does have the shorting ring, yes. The 2235 is tuned lower and is better for a subwoofer. The 2225 is better for a wide range high-efficiency woofer. Both are great woofers. The 2225 sounds wonderful in a slightly overdamped alignment, corner loaded. The 2235 sounds great in a max flat alignment, set out away from room boundaries.
