Hey-Hey!!!,
The St.70's OPTx will do. 'Specially for all ov us cheep bastard's! Of course, I'd rather 6k6 instead of <5k...it is hard to hear the diff between 6 or 7 watts.

John, don't you already have the 6J6 Ni-Wonder pre-amp? memory is quite fuzzy. Matter of fact, I think I owe you a pair of quiet 12B4's. Too many promises, too little disc space, and no notes.

The 124B could be the basis of a low-Z, balanced signal. It is 3:1 step down. This moves the single CCS further upstream if we're going to go there. This also shifts the requirement to a pair of 5687( speaking single channel ).

CCS tail load in a phase splitting, balanced output, 124B loaded linestage. Gain about 3 on a per-phase basis. Peak-to-peak, we're looking at more like 6. The 124B will actually do the phase splitting, but the CCS and LTP will make full use of a PP triode drive to it.

So, for the amp. Balanced input 5687, and pair of 2A3's. Grid choke on the finals. Heyboer has a few part numbers, up to 'Really High L', on cut C-cores. All balanced C, and high leakage L, and not for phase splitting.
cheers,
Douglas

could take the same 6k6 OPTx, and run 300B's. Make the PS a bit more versatile...Like for the Merlin amp. A high current multiple voltage plate transformer. Seeing as I will be building with 813's it might just get a bit bigger and more versatile. Up to 750DC from a choke at 300mA.

Any interest in a very potent power TX design?
