Where we differ is; I believe there is a reference standard and that if you try and relax it will manifest itself. Your assuming the placebo effect will present allways under all circumstances. But that is what profficiency means; the ability to transcend artificial constructs through study and attention to detail. Otherwise there would be no proffessional class in any endeavor; they would all be slaves to the placebo effect.
Guys who practice cooking until they develope their pallette don't fall for apprentice mistakes; they recognise excellence in other cooks and they know what tastes good.
