Personally, I prefer the chrome over black. Maybe it goes back to my age. When I was a teen (early 70's)all the macho equipment was chrome. The only components I like even better was the gold like some 60's Fisher, Scott and Knight (and others) used. In the 70's harman-kardon had a very nice pale gold that is similar to a recent JVC DVD player I bought. Back in the 80's, when all components started going black, I remember thinking that basic black was as boring as it could get (besides being hard to see buttons in dim light). It's always bugged me to see most pro equipment being black (PA gear, stereo and photography). I'm happy the trend is finally changing. Now if they's just get more gold faceplates, or how about some of the colorful stuff they had in the 50's and 60's? I have an old Bell amp that is green, light yellow/gold and brown. Very cool! Had an orange Heathkit once, too, that I liked. No pics of it handy.
