Like Monroe, Smith was in the news for personal problems. But MM married the best men she could out of a genuine need for someone to be with, not men three times her age for the money. She in fact refused to marry the one man whose money would have left her set for life, Johnny Hyde.

It's sad from a human standpoint what happened to Smith, but she had no talents or achievements to speak of. She won't be remembered, and Marilyn will.
