I think people can have a belief and be serious about it and gather together to practice it. But it always seems to me that they really would rather be exclusive and take the us vs them approach than to follow the teachings of the faith of their choice. I mean most religions say Thou shalt not kill. It doesn't specify whether there is a time to ignore that; like during war or something. I mean no one ever said thou shalt not kill...Except under these conditions; see my list of exceptions..
The other thing is why you need someone to tell you how to behave anyway.
