The more adventerous format modelled very promising on the computer, including radiation pattern characteristics, but did not sound good. Obviously my model was incomplete, and whatever it left out was important.

I have not figured out an inexpensive way to get good radiation pattern control yet (without unacceptable coloration), but I'm waiting to hear back from a driver manufacturer about a possible custom unit that might do the trick.
