Next to the ringless prototype 12" I had a ring-outfitted 15" that sounded much better either run fullrange or through a crossover (even though the 12" had a smoother frequency response curve). The difference was far too obvious for me to ignore, even though I tried to. I wonder how many other differences I've talked myself into or out of hearing like I tried to on that one.
