There are two sources of additional sensitivity. One is radiation efficiency, which doubles (3dB) with every doubling of cone area. The other is power, which doubles (3dB) with every halving of impedance, or, conversely, halves (-3dB) with every doubling of impedance. 8 drivers could get you an additional 18dB over base if all are parallel wired, but only if your amp is happy with the resulting 1 ohm load. So you can either wire to 4 ohms and pick up 12dB or 16 ohms and pick up 6dB. This now begs the question as to whether you know how to wire to either 4 or 16 ohms. If not Fred's other suggestion, using a tried and tested design, is probably sage advise.
