I'm thinking of putting in a woofer array, but the parameters that you have to use for mids and tweeters seems a little vague when you decide to put them together for a woofer array.
Jim has made it clear in other posts that woofer arrays must consist of 10 or 12 inch woofers.
Now....
Using the c-to-c rating of the woofer and assuming a crossover of 250hz, the distance between the woofers only needs to be 54 inches, which is 4.5 feet. This would suggest on the combing effects that one really only needs 2 woofers spaced 54 inches apart.
Looking at the nearfield transition data is crazy. A crossover of 250 would suggest an array height of 3-4 meters way larger than my 7.5 foot room height. Page 9-10 talks about this. The suggestion is that the array fills up 70% of 90 inches which is 63 inches.
Two woofers spaced about 4 feet C-to-c would do that, and would raise the sensitivity close to that of the midranges at least in the array, if one is using 92 SPL woofers.
Is this right?
