Cabinet layouts
Garland made his Theater four π Speakers exactly as the plans show. That's the way they're designed. Some modifications can be made, some can't. One thing is for sure, if you keep them the same as the plans show, they'll sound good. But as I said, ...

Re: Suspending Speakers
In addition to the mechanical aspects of rigging, there are also acoustic concerns. Speakers suspended in free space tend to lack bass since their radiating pattern is omnidirectional. If mounted on a wall, the pattern is forced into half-space and that...

Re: Thanks gents, how hard are the cabinets to make?
You've described the system perfectly. A four π cabinet bass bin with a π midhorn and tweeter, same as used on seven π cornerhorns. When the four π cabinet is laid on its side, it is the same witdth as the midhorn so it looks good. Put 'em up on stands...

Re: How do you lift your PI?
Here are two placements that work very well:1. On stands, a foot or so off the ground. Back against the rear wall, eight feet or more from side walls. Point them straight into the room.2. Within two feet from corners, two to three feet from the ground...

Re: pi align software
I assume you are referring to the "Lo Cut" and "Hi Cut" fields. Those were originally intended to store raw driver cutoff points, though I rarely used them. When I started writing that software, I had intended to use it to do the electro-mechanical alig...

Re: Corner Horn Recommendations
I think maybe I should point out that it isn't the corner or even the room that we've focused on mostly in this discussion, it's the distance between speakers. The room will play a roll because of its dimensions too, but the thing we've focused on mostly...

Re: Somebody needs to try
Balsa wood and neodymium. Make it sealed and fill it with helium and you won't even have to use stands. Use just enough to offset the weight of mateials and make it have buoyancy where it just floats.

Re: Single Driver doubter no more
I know what you mean. A simple little system like this can sound pretty good with a watt or two.The first few recent popular single driver systems I heard kind of sucked, to be honest. So I had a somewhat biased opinion really, and thought I wouldn't rea...

Capacitors
As capacitance is made smaller and smaller, the more it resembles an open circuit with the gap between conductors growing larger and larger.A capacitor is a very simple device. It is two plates separated by a small gap. The larger the surface area of the...

Re: Stands for 2 Pi
Yeah, your speakers are taking a little longer at the cabinet shop than I had expected too. The holiday season slows things down, and I'm sorry. But I don't think we'll miss the deadline by much - I expect 'em to go out the door just after the first, som...
