Re: Stands for 2pi and 1Pi
I don't usually put my one π or two π speakers on stands. They always seem to end up on bookshelves or mounted to the wall. But there's no reason they can't be put on stands. They're light, so you'll have less problems with stability than larger speak...

Re: 3pi, smaller cab possible?
I dunno, man, it is one sweeet speaker. I wouldn't mess with it. Of course, you can do just about anything you can dream up. But if you want the best results, you'll need to do your homework. Some modeling and testing would be in order. To tell ...

Re: So how does this all work then..?
I think as long as you have baltic birch, your speakers will sound fine. They'll be lighter and more durable than MDF cabinets too. I like to put four π speakers on 14" stands with 7° tilt back (pointed slightly upward 7°). The three π stand is...

Re: Active 3 PI
It's not that active crossovers aren't possible for this speaker. It's that you would need to do some work to optimize it. If you don't, then the passive crossover would be better. I get asked this question a lot, at least a couple times a day, here...

Re: 3-Pi Speaker plans
Gotcha. The standard "studio" bookshelf size models are great for surrounds. They also work great in a small office or bedroom where space is at a premium. But they do lack the lowest bass frequencies. The two π tower provides deep, full ...

Options in a nutshell
It's all about the midrange, when you're talking differences between the JBL 2226 and the Eminence Omega 15 in the four Pi loudspeaker. The Omega 15 sounds very good, powerful yet still natural sounding. But it isn't as good as the JBL woofer. The 222...

Re: 4 pi, oh my!
They're a very easy load for tube amps. High efficiency and benign impedance curve. Perfect for tubes. They are intended to be built and used in mirror images. This is mostly for aesthetics but there is a very small oblique tilt in the position of ...

Re: Jumping the gun, but a few questions
I don't suggest deviating from the plans unless you are prepared to do a lot of measurements and go through a full design/test cycle. Some modifications can be done with little impact but most can't. Making the cabinet significantly larger changes the ...

Re: Best choice for my set up
If you want all-out best, use six π or seven π cornerhorns if you can put them in corners, or three π or four π mains if corner positioning isn't possible. If using three π or four π speakers, put them on stands to get them up to the level of the screen...

Re: 2Pi answers
The standard bookshelf model two π loudspeaker has sensitivity of 95dB/2.83v/M and the cabinet dimensions are 22" x 15" x 10". Average impedance is 8Ω, minimum is 4Ω and maximum is 35Ω. Generally, I like stands to place the speakers at ea...
