Tube amps and four π speakers
Several people are running Theater Series four π speakers on Paramours and report no ill-behaved traits. The person you are talking about recently took delivery of some nice teakwood Theater Series four π loudspeakers. Initially, he felt he might hav...

Possible use of Lambda woofer in Pi enclosure.
I've been pondering using a Lambda TD15M driver in a Pi enclosure (similar to the 4 Pi's, I guess). PiAlign gives me reasonable numbers, a bit bigger than the 2226, and a bit smaller than the Delta. Enclosure size comes out around 30x20x14. Though I haven'...

Measurement equipment and software
I suggest using the Woofer Tester from Parts Express or Speaker Workshop from Audia. You can also measure them yourself using the following technique and formulas:You'll need a signal generator and meter or scope. Put a test resistor in series, something...

PiAlign questions: ideal vs enclosure Q (and Kappa15LF looks sweet!)
Hey Wayne et all,I just have the left tweeter crossover to finish on my Theater Seven Pis.Goodness Gracious!!!These things can play loud and clean! When cranked the bass blurs my vision and the percussion is so sharp it feels like you're getting slapped i...

Re: Output Impedance of my Son of Zen amp - Compatibility with Pi 7 setup
Output impedance of 16 ohms is pretty high. Even speakers with low Zmax will peak higher than that. I would expect some response fluctuation using any speaker on that amp.

Output Impedance of my Son of Zen amp - Compatibility with Pi 7 setup
In response to http://www.audioroundtable.com/PiSpeakers/messages/1116.htmlNelson Pass has replied to me and said that the SoZ has an output impedance of "about 16 ohms". So I'm not sure what that means in terms of damping factor or it's ability to drive 1...

Re: Tube amp output impedance and ZMAX
Output impedance drops when step-down ratio is greater. Said another way, damping is higher when the step down ratio is greater. However, I'm not sure that transfer response to a speaker with high Zmax will be significantly improved when output impedance...

Re: Tube amp output impedance and ZMAX
Try them both. I'm sure that a high z-max will only reduce the bass output.

Tube amp output impedance and ZMAX
Sorry Wayne but my pea brain can't seem to hold this in my head.My Laurel 300B amps have transformer taps for 4, 8 and 16 ohm, which I take to be choices for output impedance.I have Klipschorns, as you may remember, and this talk about ZMAX has me worried....

Re: ZMAX figure for very low damping factor amplifiers
The JBL 2241 and 2242 have relatively low Zmax - just like the 2226 does. They're all about 60 ohms at resonance in free air, which makes the in-cabinet peaks about 30 ohms. That's good for tube amps and so any of those one will work very well for you. ...
