Ciare ND 12.3 with modified Pi mid horn?
What would be the possibilty of successfully using the Ciare ND 12.3 midwoofer with a slightly modified Pi mid horn to acheive a bottom rolloff starting around 200Hz? And rolling them off up top around where the JBL 2226 is in the Four Pi at 1.3kHz?Thank...

Tweeter circuits for constant directivity horns and waveguides
I have used Erse capacitors, in fact, they're in stock now and they are used on some of the crossovers I provide as kits or in finished products. I consider them to be about the same quality level as Solen caps. Here's a post I wrote a little while bac...

Re: Hi-Freq compensation with DE250/ new 4 Pi
The DE250 is a little more sensitive than the PSD2002, that's true. If you're using an Omega 15 (or JBL 2226), then use the values shown in the four π schematic for whichever compression driver you're using.I found the Paramours to be pretty insensitive ...

Re: Loudspeaker impedance curve - Zmax and tube amps
Thanks for the reply , Its good to hear a no nonsense explanation. And its nice to know that using speaker wire a inch thick is not going to make up for bad damping in the speaker or amp.

Loudspeaker impedance curve - Zmax and tube amps
If the amplifier has high damping factor (low output impedance), the impedance curve won't matter much. But amps with higher output impedance will interact with the load impedance and may cause some amplitude response fluctuation. Single-ended tube amp...

Re: direct answer
Impedance from series wiring can be found easily with this formula:Rt = R1 + R2 + R3 ...Parallel wiring can be found with this formula:Rt = 1 / ( 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 ... )Of course, this can only tell you the simple part of the impedance, and doesn't calcu...

201 Measurements and Notes
Here are some notes about my work-in-progress 201 speaker build. My dad and I are building these at his place, two hours away, on the rare occasions when geography, work and child-care are in perfect alignment. At the moment we've got all the stock cut ...

How do I measure the Le of a speaker?
"LeThis is the voice coil inductance measured in millihenries (mH). The industry standard is to measure inductance at 1,000 Hz. As frequencies get higher there will be a rise in impedance above Re. This is because the voice coil is acting as an inductor. ...

Re: Pro Drivers-instrument speakers - Sensitivity
It does seem like 93-95db is the turning point and they seem to sound better, even when they are not playing that loud. I think dynamic compression is part of it. Inefficent systems with big amps can sound very good but they always sound like they a wor...
