Re: 4pi's on the way!
Plate amps are convenient, because they let you do everything in one box. The only problem with them is most do fourth-order slopes, some do third but I've only seen one that does second-order and I generally prefer that for flanking subs. We want a ge...

Re: 4pi's on the way!
I am contemplating subwoofer amp options and trying to decide what to do. Do you have a plate amp suggestion? Are those best or is it better to separate the crossover from the amp?

Houston Audio Society - Saturday, April 13th Meeting
For our April meeting the Houston Audio Society will take a break from obscenely priced high end equipment and hear some affordable gear instead. The meeting will be at my house in the West Houston suburbs on Saturday, April 13th, starting at 11:00am. The ...

Re: flanking subs with small mains
I suspect LFE channel in today's MCH tracks contains distinct signal that is not duplicated in any of the main channels. The more I think about Darrell's idea, the more I like it. this is just perfect. for some reason I thought a mixer is nee...

Re: flanking subs with small mains
Hi zheka, I was planning to use the L/R line-level summer built-in to my plate amp. It seems most sub plate amps these days have at least two line-level inputs so this option should be readily available. The one I'm going to use is the Yung 300W: ...

Re: flanking subs with small mains
Instead of adding an LFE-only sub + helper subs, I'd rather use the flanking subs to serve both the low bass and blended mid-bass. In zheka's second post in the "Flanking Subs vs Helper Woofers" thread, he commented that current HT processors don...

flanking subs with small mains
Hi Wayne, My current mains are fairly small (usable output only down to 60 Hz), so I've been searching for a way to blend in flanking subs while using my AVR's bass management to limit the main's extension below 80Hz. Please let me know if you think the...

Re: Dayton Audio/Eminence Full Range Single Driver
I've decided to try something different, and so far I like what I'm hearing. These speakers sound very good using the DEQX for equalization and crossover, but realistically how many people have that kind of equipment? If I can make them sound good with no ...

Re: Buffer for my system?
You may not have the problem you think. The tube amp may have an input impedance near 500K which, compared with the others, is neglegable. I would suggest that you can call the sub manufactures and ask what impedances the sub amps are. If I remember cor...

Buffer for my system?
Hi all, I currently run some 4 PI speakers and I run a pair of subwoofers with them as Wayne advises. Real happy. I have a nice subwoofer that I built with a Morel 12" and then I have an older Boston Acoustics 8" subwoofer. So I run to the ...
