Re: Playing around with CARA
The CARA models I've done have been different room sizes and shapes, and I use one, two and four subwoofers in various positions in the room. I haven't studied individual speakers so much as I've studied room modes using various subwoofer configurations....

Playing around with CARA
Hi Wayne.I finally got to play around with CARA, and this is a very nice program to help me see the acoustic problems in the listening room.My HT room pretty much sucks for audio, it has way to high reverberation time in the lower midrange and bass, due t...

Re: position is everything
If I may make a suggestion: Use CARA to help analyze the room before deciding on speaker placement. That will help you understand the modal behavior, energy distribution and tonal balance throughout the room. Then if you're really serious, use somethi...

Re: Group together outdoors, spread around indoors
Sounds like you have a very good setup. I like to recommend CARA because I've found it to be very useful, and it isn't expensive. But I think maybe in your case, it would just be an interesting pastime, and you'd get to see the energy distribution in yo...

Re: Group together outdoors, spread around indoors
Have you ever seen CARA? I can't remember if we talked about it already, but I post something about it from time to time. You might use CARA it to analyze your room and see the energy distribution. It will show you hot spots and dead spots at various p...

Re: Multiple subs and reverb?
There's a thread about this in the Room Acoustics forum, called "Computer Simulation of Room Acoustics."If the subs are placed within 1/4λ of the mains at the crossover point, then they will sum very well. They'll effectively be the same acoustic source....

CARA
Use CARA to model your room. You can put the sub in different places to find out where to put it for best uniformity of energy distribution through the room.

Horns in groups, radiating into constrained space and room modes
You can certainly make horns smaller that will be used in groups or boundary loaded. Making them smaller on this assumption makes stand-alone use not an option though. Have you played around with Hornresp yet? It looks a little bit intimidating at f...

Re: Hardwood floor
My floor may be marginally better than some - it's an engineered hardwood floor (basically plywood planks) laid on a few mm of foam, over a particle board floor on joists (I used to have carpet). I also have a big rug in the middle of the room and quite a...

Re: Pi Sevens up and running!
I would suggest running braces along the front. Glue 1x2 wood along the panel with the taller dimension (2") standing up. That way it will resist panel flex.If you find room modes are troublesome, you may want to add a couple subwoofers. This may seem ...
