Hey! I got a PSP-515 turntable (very old) - works fine with a phono input amp, but when I plug it into my 2001 sony MHC Z100 which has only video(aux) and md inputs, the signal's too weak and at max volume (4000W pmpo) I hear only enough sound like someone with high volume on their earphones next to you.

Can someone help? Do I have to have an amp or preamp with phono input or is there a way to fix this?

Thanks in advance - this is a bit urgent - Cheers!

You answered your own question. You need a Phono Preamp since that receiver has no phono input.
