Try "Gabes Tube Amplifiers and Stuff", he makes a SE 6watt from a 6sl7 tube rectified for 549$ and a 300b with tubes SE for 700$ as well as some pre-amps etc. interesting.

Is this the page you're referring?

It's a very interesting site. I see he's into old tube radios - That's cool. I like hangin' out on the Tube Radio forum 'cause I'm into old tube radios too.

Yes thats the guy, I like that old Mag 1515 which he claims is based on an old Magnavox tube radio. The schematic is real simple. Did you see the new 6L6 SE amp he writes about? 6sL7 driver tubes,0 NFB. There is a great design tutorial along with it where he explains all of his design descisions.

This one?

I saw that, and it looked real nice. Clean look, and from the description it sounds like it probably works well. For $550.00 for the kit, a person sure can't get hurt to give it a try!

I'll definitely check that one out, when the schedule permits. I'm still waiting for my Seduction kit, and I've got a "to-do" list about two years long. But that 606 kit sure looks interesting...

That looks like it but if you look under the projects page listing for "real simple and cheap 45/2a3 set", he gives an account of the design process that might have been an ealier iteration of that amp. There is a sidebar within that tutorial called 6L6 SE, just click on that. Very good info for begginners anyone reading this.
