It includes the tube preamp/dock with powered speakers. Wal Mart hasn't heard about high end pricing. http://www.walmart.com/ip/DICE-Electronics-iTPA-220-Tube-Amplifier-System-for-iPod/13350437

WTH are those bubbles around the tubes?

I like the opening statement:
For true, high-quality sound to please even the discerning audiophiles

Those are tube condoms, to protect you and your listening partner from unwanted outcomes. I thought "discerning" and "audiophile" were one word, like "audiosnob" is one word.

I thought they were tube condoms Laughing

You should be able to toast some marshmallows over them when the plastic melts down and catches fire.

The tube covers pop right off, so they're not a problem. There's an auxiliary input on the back of the preamp section, so you could plug in a CD player or some other component. The case of the preamp is plastic, so nobody is going to confuse this with a serious piece of audio equipment. The connections are interesting: you plug the left speaker's captive cord into a 120V outlet, connect a dedicated cable from a jack labeled "18V Out" on the left speaker to an "18V In" jack on the preamp, another cable from the "audio out" on the preamp to the left speaker's "audio in", and a third cord that's hard wired to the right speaker to the left speaker's "right speaker" jack. All are color coded. There's even a small remote.

The sound isn't bad at all. Much better than the typical boombox. And the coolest thing is the tubes are lit from below by blue LED's! While this isn't the only audio equipment you would want, at $97 it's a good bargain, especially if it doesn't die after 90 days like so much cheap Chinese equipment. It's a good office system.

Well, let us know how it holds up.

Might make a good little system for my office?

Wayne and Shane, that's exactly what it is: a good stocking stuffer and a great office system. The speakers are ported and have a bit of a midbass peak, which sounds very good at the low volumes you would use in an office. I plan to give this one to one of my sons.

Here's a picture of the backside:

When I clicked the photo to zoom in, I saw the yellow RCA connector on the back is labeled "video output". I didn't realize the iPod could store video - Just did a search and learned that it would. Cool!

I just bought this system for my iPod and have tried it out. So far, I have no complaints with it at all. It's easy to setup and use and the sound quality is very good.
