Wayne, what is the deal with these kits? (3 pi subwoof) What comes with it, (what driver) and can I obtain box plans to cathouse7 at SBCglobal dot net please. Looks very interesting!

I'll send you the plans.

It's a pretty simple speaker - just a woofer in a vented cabinet, tuned to give strong output to 20Hz. The cabinet is 3.6ft³ tuned to 22Hz, yielding f3=22Hz and f10=18Hz.

What is the sensitivity of those subs compared to JBL 15" woofers like the 2225? I expect you will need to double the number of subs to match.

Freespace sensitivity is 89dB. If you just use a pair of subs, you'll need about 10dB gain in the amp stage to match the stereo mains. If you use four subs, you won't need as much gain and you'll also get better smoothing from multiple bass sound sources.
