Since we are talkjing about some fairly exocitc films of late,
the Julie Taymor version of Titus just popped into my head.

It's redily available at most all outlets and has a really
good 'look' for Shakespeare or anything else for that matter.
Anthony Hopkins plays Mr. T.

My first reaction to it and something I wrote about elsewhere
was that the picture Titus reminded most of was
Time Bandits. However, Titus deals with some very mature
themes and visuals. It's not Monty Python or Terry Gilliam.

All the more surprising from someone who just came from
doing the stage version of The Lion King.

Grand Master
I saw it on DVD with about six people. They all hated it; I loved it. I thought it was mesmerizing. I must say, I thought more of the House of Atreus than Time Bandits, though!

Well, that's art for you. Ya gotta love it or ya gotta hate it.

After seeing the BBC version of Titus from the Complete Shakespeare,
I knew a bit of what to expect.

In the Beeb's version, there is also the youth (forget the character name) who observes all the action. In the Beeb version the youth had on these steel rim Harry Potter glasses (these things made
long before the Potter films though.)

Another great Shakespeare pick for modern day audiences is
"Looking For Richard."
