I found a pair of these cheap today and really like the way they sound. One speaker needs either e new grill cloth or I need to figure out how to patch two holes about the size of quarters. These are perfect for listening to when you don't want a lot of volume. My Altecs don't seem to come alive until around 95+db on the meter or maybe my hearing is just going south

I use a MC-2505 I bought in 1971. I'm going to try borrowing an amp that has 100WPC or more and see if that helps. Maybe I have planars confused with electrostatics. I was expecting really pronounced highs but these sound like my Wharfdales. A fellow from Magnepan called today but I was at work. Hopefully I'll be able to talk to him on Friday.

I forgot to mention I have a MC-275 that I plan on using as soon as I can get it fixed. The Altecs loved the tube amp while it worked.

With Altecs I think it is more about the power supply of the amp; that would explain why the 275 sounds good.
