I have set the umask on the server so that all the file types will default to 644 (readable by everyone) unless this is overwritten by the application.

My test thus far have shown that this works fine.

Please forgive the problems.

Sheri

Several posts have been made since Monday that were initially inaccessable to the public, and required manual intervention to make them publically readable. We've worked on the problem nearly around the clock to solve it without resorting to a rollback.

DNS changes are particularly troublesome on live message boards like this, because during the transition time, while IP changes are propogated troughout the internet nameservers, some posts are made on the old server and others made on the new. This causes the two systems to get out of sync, and creates a potential for gaps in threaded messages.

We've made a change that we think will work and if not, we'll rollback the system tomorrow. If there are any inaccessable posts made between 9:00am CST today and 9:00am CST tomorrow, we will rollback the upgrade and go back to the DEV server.
