The funniest part, to me, is that a very good engineer would play hell to measure the difference that these nitwits claim to HEAR! and to hear when it represents one component in a chain of 1000 interacting with each other. It's just the most incredible self delusion since psychic surgery.

in some ways i have to respect their experiences, because i havent had similar, nor opposite experiences with similar things..ive had 1 system,no 'upmarket parts' nor different cables.

I would like to test cables and parts just to see if i experience the same things they do,if i did,id investigate pyscho acoustics more.
If i didnt,i could lay the thing to rest

its all about keeping science as your foundation, otherwise your lost in the winds of audiophilia

I'll offer these two guidelines from Carl Sagan

1. It's good to keep your mind open, but not so open that your brains fall out.

2. Extradoniry claims require extraordinary evidence.

The anti-DBT crowd is hilarious - it's perpetually a case of "just because I can't hear it doesn't mean it's not worth a month's pay per foot".
