Re: Cleaning Connections on Equipment
One of the more interesting developments I have witnessed in connector technology has been the progression of crimp connections. Not so long ago, I always preferred soldered connections to those that were crimped. As an example, crimped connectors were...

Re: My 3π adventure
I meant to add some comments about the Helmholtz frequency in each of my responses above, but forgot. It was more important to me to discuss the use of flanking subs and multisubs, and the reasons for needing them. So I became involved in those respons...

Re: Tubes versus Transistors
Hi, As long as there are tubes and solid state gear they will be talking about it. I have a considerable amount of each. In my main system there are 4 Oddblocks that provide the muscle to the speakers. But there is no way I would replace the solid state...

Hey guys!
It has been a long time but life kind of comes at you from all sides. When lockdown began around March 2020, I knew that I wanted to build a set of large efficient speakers. Four Pi speakers were well reviewed and recommended in a l...

Re: Aztec Monet Cabinets
I would look for a woofer that will work well in that size box. The vent can be changed, so that doesn't need to be seen as a constant but you might be able to find a woofer that works well with that Helmholtz frequency. So calculate the Helmholtz freq...

Flanking subs with multi-sub optimizer, and other questions
I intend to mate my mains (ported, tuned around 50hz) with an old Hsu Research vtf-2 (ported, tuned around 25hz). For use as flanking subs, I currently have two Dayton RSS265HF-8 woofers on each side, each pair of woofers in a Linkwitz specified W-frame c...

Re: The DE912a Arrays of Awesomeness
Yes, it's a diy sub made from a Parts Express 2' sealed box with a 12" Ultimax driver and their 500W plate amp. A sub is required with these speakers. The open back design doesn't go much below 120hz.

WinISD 0.44
I like to play on winisd, goofing around with different woofers and alignments.
I noticed when you select either closed or ported enclosure, it gives an already established box and/or port size, with an established tuning frequency.
Ive read these ar...
