Re: SBIR
That creates a notch around 80Hz to 120Hz from SBIR, which is very common. Most people place speakers about this far from the wall behind them, so the SBIR notch in this frequency range is very common. Scan the internet for in-room response charts and ...

Re: Pi Speakers in Home Theater/Stereo Listening Room Upgrade
My suggestion would be to use three Pi or four Pi mains with flanking subs. Do some searches here to see what that setup entails. It's a pretty popular configuration. Also, while we do offer complete loudspeakers, it's sometimes worthwhile to find a...

Re: Definimax 4012HO - End of Life
I don't remember specifically what made me pass on the Faital drivers for three Pi model, because I looked at many midwoofers back then. In many cases, the problem that keeps a driver "off the table" is the basic electro-mechanical stuff. T...

Aliza
I've just released a fun little chatbot. As a nod to Weizenbaum's Eliza program, I've called it "Aliza." If you don't know "Eliza" or who Joseph Weizenbaum was, ask Aliza. You can reach it at any of these locations: ParhamData...

Re: speaker plans 4 pi
You've got mail! And - yes - the polyimide version of the DE250 is the one you want. By the way, look into the concept of flanking subs too. If you don't use a pair right away, maybe save that for an upgrade project later.

Re: Am I in the Right Place?
You've got mail! You'll want the spacing between horn and midwoofer to be as close as possible to provide a tall forward lobe. Watch the "Vertical Nulls" video in the "Crossover optimization for DI-matched two-way speakers" link I...

Re: Am I in the Right Place?
Going a little larger - to 5ft3 - adds a smidge more bass and remains properly damped. You can model it and see what I mean, or build a physical model and measure it. Going smaller reduces bass output, but again, remains properly damped. So that's a u...

Re: Pi3 vs Pi4
The posted measurements are for the fully upgraded models, but the differences in response aren't major. The benefit of upgraded midwoofer drivers is mostly reduced distortion because the upgraded drivers have shorting rings. That's not the case with...

Re: Subs for floorstander and corner horns
There are two different answers to what are really two different questions here. One is whether subs are needed for six Pi and seven Pi constant-directivity cornerhorns. The other is whether subs are needed for two Pi towers. They're two different...

Subs for floorstander and corner horns
Question on flanking and distributed subs that I don't think has been clearly stated. My understanding, at least with respect to the bookshelf speakers, you'd probably be looking to add flanking subs (with left or right feed, crossed around 100hz) befor...
