Subwoofer project Zmax
Is there a Zmax spec for the subwoofer project? If there is not an actual number, do we know if the Zmax value is expected to be tube friendly? ( or SET friendly or whatever)If you hadn't explained it I wouldn't be asking.best regards,Walter Owens

ZMAX How ?
Hi, Sorry for such a basic question. However, I did a search on this subject and seemed to not be able to narrow down to specific answer. So here is my question. How do you derive the ZMAX of a speaker? Best regards,ck

ZMAX - Maximum impedance, impedance at resonance
… Use a resistor value equal to the expected Zmax, between 50 and 200 ohms. The value should be precisely known because you will use it as a reference point; The division of voltage between the resistor and the speaker at resonance is used to calculate …

ZMAX figure for very low damping factor amplifiers
… told to look for a woofer that has very low ZMax figure. What range of ZMax figures should I be looking in 15" or 18" woofers? What trade-offs are there to using an extremely low ZMax figure? I see the cheaper models of woofers have a lower ZMax figure …

Tube amp output impedance and ZMAX
…output impedance.I have Klipschorns, as you may remember, and this talk about ZMAX has me worried.I don't know the specs on the K33, but if the bass was a little flubby, what would be the right direction to take the tap, from 8 to 4 or from 8 to 16…

"Zmax" - Impedance at Resonance
…are two loudspeaker criteria that are important for SET owners in addition to the usual matters of sound quality. One is efficiency and the other is impedance. You need high efficiency because amplifier power is limited and impedance peaks should be as …

Loudspeaker impedance curve - Zmax and tube amps
…transfer function. A speaker with 50Ω Zmax is really not too bad. An amplifier with 4Ω output impedance isn't eaither, really. Pretty common for a SET amp. But once you go much past that, the fluctuations start becoming audible. A speaker with …

T/S Measurements
…========== Note: Speakers with higher Zmax are more accurately measured with higher value test resistors. Use of 100 or 1000 ohm values is not uncommon, shifting the test conditions more towards having constant current. Voice coil …

Re: Impedance at resonance and tube amps
…noticeable when you take a motor with high Zmax and compare its behaviour in a circuit having strong drive/damping ability to another having high source impedance. You can drive a speaker having low Zmax with either of two amps having different damping …
