Hi guys, I work with a man that told me about you guys. Nice place! Listen- My sweetie has a great system, groovy record player and looooots of vinyl. The thing is we don't have a DVD and I'd really like to give him one for his birthday next week. He'll be 39 ;-) Whatsa good one for a picky audiophile? Betti
If he's only going for music DVDs then fine, but if he's into video at all go for a DVD recorder. I got one last birthday and have since retired my VCR.
I got mine through HSN (Home Shoppimg Network); the brand is CyberHome, a generic Chinese brand, which is of little consequence since all this stuff comes out of China anyway. My impetus was the price- I got it for $239; mainstream brands like Panasonic run at least a hundred more. The thing works like a charm- DVD playback is flawless, and the recording quality puts a VCR to shame, you cannot tell the difference from the original source.
If I'm in your shoes, I'll give him a durable and reliable DVD Player that's made from Japan like AKIRA. It's a long lasting player. You'll never regret.
Best Buy has a nice selection of DVD and DVD recorders. I would shop around though because you could be dead set on an item and you may be able to find it at a different store for cheaper.
