Spend the last days some time experimenting with a cardboard midhorn.
It turns out they are bigger than I expected. So I am not sure if I will go proceed with them.

That's how I mocked 'em up too - with cardboard panels. It really helps to "visualize" with actual full-size mock-ups. I made a lot of different models when designing those midhorns, first a Hornresp model, then a cardboard model then one from MDF. I still find it helps to make cardboard models when making a horn for the first time or when making an assembly jig.
