Hi folks,

Is the 800 hz jbl 2345 40 x 90 metal horn an equivalent horn to the eminence H290?
It would be used on top of an eight pi, with psd:2002.
Would the crossover need modification?
I just like the vintage look for the eight pi, and there may be a pair available locally.

The H290 is a small horn to be used above 1kHz. Since crossover is at 1.6kHz, it's just fine. But it is a smaller horn.

Little heard of lately and too large for some cabinets but good sounding. The material is soft so be careful with tools. I used them in my Theatre 4's bought from a Wayne-friend store in OK.

Yes, that one is still my favorite. I wish they moulded them in one piece because it would look better, but the two piece design doesn't hurt the sound at all.

Hi Waye,

Have you ever tried the current Peavy 1" compression driver? People have reported that it is a good one.

No, I haven't tried it. Peavey has really made some good products in the last decade or so though. I'll bet it's a pretty good part.
