Re: 7 Pi JBL 2226 answers

JBL 2235's are superb drivers, and you can more bass extension from them at the expense of reduced system output, when compared to 2226's. Top end is about 115dB at maximum output, but then again you can expect a 30Hz cutoff instead of 40Hz. 2226's provide response down to 40Hz but they give you 125dB at maximum output. So that's the comparison. These are in boxes from 2.5ft3 to 5.0ft3. If you can make the box twice this size, between 6ft3 and 10ft3, then 2245's will give you even deeper bass. You can use 'em in four π-18 cabinets, which are 36" x 24" x 18" with 4.25" x 7.5" and 7.5" long port. Or you can put them in seven π-18 cornerhorns, which are 49" x 25" x 13" having the same port dimensions. See the drawings in the "Pi Speaker Alignment Theory" for cabinet layout information.
